10 Foods That Help To Lose Weight

Are you finding it difficult to lose weight in spite of the regular workouts? Along with exercises, you also need to have a diet plan which includes the foods which assist in weight loss. Consume as much water as possible in a day; with the minimum being eight glasses. Here let's take a look at foods that will aid in weight loss.

Eggs - Skip doughnuts, bagel and croissants in the morning. Instead consume an egg omelet with vegetables and tofu thrown in it. Consume a couple of slices of wheat/multigrain toast. Eggs are the most filling food rich in protein when you are on a weight loss program.

Green Tea- Instead of consuming coffee or your regular cup of tea with sugar and milk/cream, try a cup of green tea to kick start your day. It will boost your metabolism.

Apple - An apple is a low-calorie snack that you can chomp at any time of the day. The antioxidants help prevent metabolic syndrome and aids in weight loss.

Broccoli- This veggie is a rich source of fiber and calcium. Consuming a bowl of broccoli salad is filling and keeps your stomach light.

Mushrooms- They are rich in water content and protein. Sautéing sliced mushrooms with olive oil with a sprinkle of paprika and salt will make a good filling for sandwiches. You can swap mushrooms for meat in many of the dishes.

Cabbage - This vegetable is rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C. Therefore a great immune booster. You can have it either raw pr make a salad with ginger vinaigrette dressing. You can also toss in a few slices of apples.

Soup- Include either vegetable or chicken soup in your diet. They are not only filling but also keep cold and cough at bay. Researchers at Purdue University speculate that the soup satisfies hunger because the brain perceives it as filling.

Grapefruit- A study conducted at the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center at Scripps Clinic revealed that eating half a grapefruit before each meal or drinking a serving of the juice three times a day helped people drop more than three pounds over a period of 12 weeks.

Cinnamon-. Research from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that a little cinnamon can help control post-meal insulin spikes, which make you feel hungry. You can either sprinkle powdered cinnamon on your whole-grain toast or drink water boiled with cinnamon. It helps to lower the blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides.

Lentils - These are packed with magnesium, fibre and folate. You can cook them and toss them with green or just sprinkle salt and pepper. There are many recipes that use lentils instead of meat.
The other foods that you can consume include oats, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Use Tofu or cottage cheese instead of cheese because Tofu is an appetite-quashing protein. In brief, plan your meals and try to include lots and lots of vegetables and fruits. Cut down on oil, cheese and butter.

Weight Loss Foods to Include in Your Diet

Cayenne, from the Greek "to bite", comes from the family of hot peppers used for flavoring foods. The most important substance in cayenne is a group of chemicals collectively called capsaicin. Pure capsaicin is extremely toxic and would burn a hole right through you. Even one drop in 100,000 dilution can raise blisters on the skin. These powerful natural chemicals are new darlings of the pharmaceutical companies because capsaicinoid drugs are now being developed for a whole range of health problems.

Recent research has discovered a new receptor in our nervous system called the "capsaicin receptor." It allows capsaicin to act as a unique anti-inflammatory. The FDA has recently approved a capsaicin spray, which, when sprayed up the nose relieves headaches that are resistant to other anti-inflammatories such as aspirin and ibuprofen. Because it is made from a food, and not a drug, you can now buy various versions of this spray over-the-counter at your local pharmacy.

Capsaicin applied locally to the skin has anti-inflammatory effects at other sites in the body, remote from where it was applied. There are now creams available that contain capsaicin.

Obesity-induced inflammation contributes to the development of metabolic syndrome, which causes insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, and cardiovascular disease. In one study, dietary capsaicin lowered fasting glucose, lowered fasting insulin, and markedly reduced the impairment of glucose tolerance in mice.

  Capsaicin Promotes Fat Loss
Capsaicin has numerous other effects on weight control. By the 1990s, controlled studies were showing that red pepper in meals dramatically increases thermogenesis, and energy use. In the brain, it causes stimulation of catecholamines, and increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system that regulates heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. Simply, capsaicin energizes the body, but not in the same way as a stimulant, such as caffeine.

Red pepper also reduces appetite. A 2009 review of most of the controlled studies, concluded that capsaicinoids have been shown to reduce food intake, increase thermogenesis, and increase lipolysis (fat-use for fuel). The only adverse outcome is gastric discomfort, associated with taking too much too soon.
Probably the most important effect of capsaicin is that it activates an enzyme with a complicated name. In simple terms, it releases fat for use as muscle fuel, and then excretes the fat from the body. It also inhibits formation of new body fat and new fat cells. As a bonus, it also inhibits formation of cholesterol and triglycerides.

  Use Capsaicin for Life
Using capsaicin is simple. Eat hot peppers in cooking and in meals out whenever you can. Change your diet to include hot salsas, curries, chilis and hot sauces. Make them a regular part of your food.

Four Easy Exercises to Lose Weight

  Losing Weight Just Got Easier

If you've been looking for a no fuss exercise regime that will help you to lose weight, you've come to the right place. Read on to discover five simple exercises that you can incorporate easily into your routine for guaranteed results.

  Burpees
This is a great, intense exercise that gets the heart pumping and the blood flowing to burn calories fast. From a crouching position with your hands on the floor, jump backwards so that both legs land outstretched behind you. Repeat the move in reverse, landing back in the starting position, but this time spring upwards into a vertical jump, raising both arms above the head. This is a challenging exercise and quality over quantity should be your main priority; make your movements explosive and powerful for effective results. Start with just a few burpees and slowly increase the volume as you gain confidence and strength. It may help to split the exercise into sets; for example, perform 10 burpees, rest for 10 seconds and repeat.

  Walking Arms
Great for developing a strong core and building lean muscle, this exercise is a quick calorie burner. The basic idea is to alternate between a plank and straight armed press up position, using only your arms to make the transition. As you transfer your weight from the forearms to the palms, concentrate on maintaining a strong body line; there should be minimal twisting about the torso. You'll lose weight quickly by performing this exercise, simply because it engages so many major muscles; throughout the move your entire core is working hard to keep your body stable, whilst your arms lift and support your body weight.

  Squat Jumps
This explosive exercise is fantastic for toning the thighs and bum, and burns calories fast due to its aerobic nature. From a deep squatting position, jump vertically so that both feet lose contact with the floor, and land back in the squatting position. Combining the strength elements of the basic squat with a high intensity jumping action, squat jumps build muscle and burn fat simultaneously; ideal for weight loss.

  High Knees
This exercise works an impressive proportion of the body's muscles and provides an intense cardio workout; notable credentials for a move that can be performed in front of the TV! It's easiest to envisage the move as an exaggerated running action. So remaining on the spot, lift your knees to chest height as you run and pump the arms powerfully. Aim for a minute of continuous exercise before resting and repeating.

  Start Losing Weight Today
This workout has been deliberately designed to be quick and simple, but its intensity makes it highly effective. By completing sets of the exercises detailed above you'll kick-start your metabolism, increase your fitness and tone your muscles. All of these outcomes will aid you in your weight loss goals.

What Is the Best Exercise to Lose Weight Fast?

When thinking about the best exercise for weight loss you first need to think about why you are trying to lose the weight. It may sound like a silly question, but if you think about it in more detail you will see why you need to answer that question first.

Many people say they want to lose weight. However, weight is just a number. It could be that they just want to have a small number appear on the scales when the jump on, but don't really care about their health or the shape of their bodies. If so, then just losing weight will be fine for them. They can go on a quack diet, and probably lose a fair few pounds in a short period of time. Great. However, it won't last as dieters always reach a plateau, they won't gain any health benefits and they won't change the way they look in the mirror that much either.

Most people who say they want to lose weight really want to do rather more than just have a lower number on their weight chart. Normally they want to change the shape of their bodies, get a sexier, slimmer body for the beach on holiday, and maybe improve their long term and short-term health. If that's what they want a diet will be useless. The key is to get rid of fat - it's bad for the health, especially the internal or visceral fat that surround the organs. It also covers over what muscles you have lurking underneath, so no one can see how great they are. I'm not a big fan of the bodybuilder look, but I do like nice toned bodies where you can see some muscle and the outer layer doesn't continue wobbling for 10 minutes after you stop moving.

The best exercise to lose weight then becomes the best exercise to get rid of body fat. This is a much better target and it is simple to do.
  • Start doing regular cardiovascular exercise. Regular means 5 times a week for 30 minutes or more. Cardiovascular means something that gets your heart pumping. Newly weds won't need any suggestions. For the rest of us it means running, cycling or swimming. As long as it make you hot, puffed out and sweaty it doesn't really matter what you do, so the best thing is to try a few things and find out what you like. Something you enjoy doing will be easy to keep on doing regularly, week in, week out. I found by trial and error that I love running in the countryside, but some people find that boring. We're all different - just do something that you enjoy.

  • Build up a little lean muscle. It looks good, and it helps to stop your resting metabolism slowing down. As you do more and more cardio exercise your body becomes more efficient. That means that it tends to burn through fewer calories in you normal daily life than it did before. Building some lean muscle mass by doing bodyweight exercises (abs, press-ups etc) or weights helps counteract this and keeps your body burning more calories even when you are asleep.

  • One further thing that might help, if you are able to do it, is to do your exercise early in the day. The reason is that exercise tends to suppress the appetite, meaning that you tend to consume fewer calories. If you exercise in the morning before breakfast, you will eat less at breakfast and at all of the other meals in the day. If you exercise in the evening you will only reduce the amount you eat in the evening meal. So the overall calorie deficit will not be so great.
The best exercises to lose weight are a combination of good old heart pumping cardio work and a little muscle building to help burn through the most calories and reveal the sexy body which is currently hiding beneath a layer of fat. Just concentrate on burning fat, not on losing weight. Your weight sill still decrease, but you'll also make a huge difference to your appearance, and your health. What could be better?

Top 7 Foods To Eat To Lose Weight

Losing weight is a never ending battle. Even if you reach your goal, you are still going to have to work to keep yourself there. People always view the working out aspect as the main key goal, but it could all mean nothing depending on the food you eat. This is just as important as any other aspect of losing weight.

A lot of the foods you might eat may have more calories than you think, and other foods that you may not normally think have lower calories than expected. I would like to share with you the top 7 foods you can eat that are good for you, and also help you stay thin and stay under your calorie limit.

So here they are, in no particular order:
1 - Oatmeal; this is a superb source of soluble fiber, which will slow down your digestion, which in turn keeps you feeling fuller for a longer period of time. Whole grains and rice are also rich in this area, and because they are more "bulky" it doesn't take as much as something else would to make you feel full.

2 - Grapefruit; this specifically is probably one of THE TOP foods in my opinion that are best for losing weight. The fruit itself is on average 90% water, and only 80 calories. You will gain virtually no weight and feel decently satisfied afterwards.

3 - Certain dairy products, such as low fat yogurts, cheeses, and milk may not necessarily be the lowest in calories, but they can play a vital role in helping you get thin. This is because these dairy products break down fat cells faster than most other foods, and if consumed in small doses of 3-4 times a day could immensely help you lose weight fast.

4 - Popcorn; this surprises most people. Before seeing the truth myself, I just assumed that popcorn would be higher in calories than other comparable food, but this is not the case. It takes 3 and 1/4 cups of popcorn to make 100 calories, so this is GREAT food to munch on if you're in that mood to just keep eating. Just remember to not put too much butter on it!

5 - Raw nuts produce quite a lot of fiber and can help control your hunger pains. It is a good dose of Omega 3 fats which will help you burn fat faster. Just remember that all nuts will help you in these areas, but raw nuts will be the most helpful.

6 - Fish can help your body become more sensitive to a hormone that most other foods can not help with. This fat burning hormone is called Leptin, and basically what it contributes to is suppressing your appetite, and this is also the deciding area in whether the calories you consume are stored as fat or burned as energy.

7 - Water, water, water. This is not a food obviously, but I think it deserves a place on this list. For one, it is the most essential thing that you should be consuming. Especially when you work out, you need to replenish your fluids. In addition to help you with your weight loss, drinking water can save your life. Drinking just 5 glasses of water every day can reduce the risk of colon cancer by 45%, cut the cost of breast cancer by 79%, and drops bladder cancer to only a 50% less likely to happen if you drink the water your body needs.

Some people will try to cut all their fat when they want to lose weight, but this is incorrect. Your body will need at least some source of healthy fat, or polyunsaturated fat. This will be MUCH healthier than saturated fats. By adjusting your diet you can really change the way you lose weight and stay in shape. Just remember to eat all the types of food you need, drink your water, and watch your calories!

There are many, many more foods that you can and should eat that will help you from day to day, and over time. Please visit my website at http://www.secret2fastfitness.com to learn more about the foods you should and shouldn't be eating, as well as top notch tips about how you should be working out.

Easy Exercises To Lose Weight

Losing weight does not have to be hard because there are many easy exercises that will help you lose weight. When most people think about losing weight, they think about going on a diet. While changing how much or what you eat for healthier options is good, you will not lose much weight unless you get up and get moving.

Most people overlook the benefit of walking. If you are walking, you are burning calories. You don't need any extra equipment or expensive memberships. Walking can be done anywhere. You can walk around your house, your neighborhood, or your office on your coffee break. You can walk through a mall and look at all the new things for sell while you get healthier. You can walk around a park and enjoy nature. You don't even have to set aside 30 minutes to do it. Just park in the parking spot farthest from your job, or school, or doctor's office. Every extra step you can take today adds to how many calories your body will burn. So add  5 minutes walking time to every errand you run and you will see a difference soon.

You have your radio on to your favorite station and you notice your foot is tapping to the beat. So why not put that energy and beat to use. Get out of your chair and dance to the beat. You don't have to know how to dance. Just move your body in any way that feels good to you. As long as you are moving, you are burning calories. Dancing using all of the muscles in your body, not just a few. Before you know it an hour has passed. But you never noticed as you were having too much fun dancing around to Lady Gaga and Beyonce.

Housework and the tasks of daily living can be as good as exercise if you do it right. Instead of using the electric mixer to mix batter for those pancakes, get out the whisk and use some arm muscles. Instead of using that leaf blower to clean up those leaves, grab the rake and a wheel barrow, and get to enjoying the sun while you make leaf piles. Instead of hiring a lawn service to cut your grass, or using the riding lawn mower, get out your push mower and get to pushing. Choose to use a real paint brush to repaint the fence and put the paint sprayer back in the garage. When you vacuum, move the sofa out of the way and then move it back when you are done. Leave the laundry basket in the laundry room, and go up and down the stairs with each persons' dirty clothes. The more you go up and down, the more calories you burn. Take the batteries out of the remote controls so that you have to get up to turn the channel. Leave the phone on the charger so that you have to walk to the phone whenever it rings. Park closest to the street whenever you go somewhere.

Walk up the stairs or escalator instead of riding the elevator. Play with your kids instead of watch.
Walking is something everyone can do. Dancing is very fun. Housework is something you do every day. But, if you choose so, these activities can be wonderful and easy ways to lose weight.

What Foods to Eat to Lose Weight

To be able to lose weight, it is important that you control what you eat and how much. But with the many diets available on the market saying contradicting things, how do we really know which food would help us take off those pounds? Well here is a list of what foods to eat to lose weight.

  1. Eggs. Some people would argue that this is high in calories hence should be avoided, but eggs are actually jam packed with protein which is known to prevent fluctuations in your blood sugar. Unstable blood sugar levels often lead to food cravings and weight gain. Also, eggs make you feel full longer which keeps you from reaching for that chocolate bar in your pantry. It also contains Choline which is important for brain function.

  2. Mushrooms. Some vegetarians actually use mushrooms as a substitute for meat as the texture and taste is similar. This option is also lower in calories and makes you feel full because of its high water content. What's more is that it contains a number of B vitamins like riboflavin, niacin, and folate. Studies have similarly shown that mushrooms strengthen your immune system and helps prevent certain types of cancer.

  3. Oats. Fiber is a well-known food group that aids in weight loss. It cleanses your body of impurities, promotes fast digestion, and makes your stomach feel full. Buy the steel cut or rolled oats as these are the ones that underwent the least processing and still has most of its nutrients.

  4. Green Tea. This has also been gaining popularity especially in Asian countries. It contains antioxidants such as catechins that promote slimming. Catechins increase metabolism and aids in fat burning. It also has caffeine and is a healthier option for your daily coffee intake.

  5. Apples. These fruits are also high in fiber, water, and are really low in calories. It also has antioxidants that help in preventing metabolic syndrome, an illness that causes increased belly fat.

  6. Grapefruit. It has been proven that people who eat half a grapefruit per meal or drink its juice three times a day has decreased levels of insulin and is able to keep hunger at bay. This forces your body to tap into its calorie reserves as a source of energy.

  7. Cinnamon. This spice actually helps reduce cholesterol, blood sugar and triglyceride levels. It can also take the place of your sweet cravings and control insulin spikes that make you feel hungry.

  8. Blueberries. Like all fruits, this is low in calories and would help you shed the pounds as a sweet option instead of the calorie laden baked goods people often consume. It also has high levels of antioxidants which combat cancer.

  9. Greek yogurt. This low-calorie food is a great substitute for cream, which is high in fat, in your cooking. It is also jam packed with protein and good carbs which helps stave off hunger.

  10. Olive Oil. This is high in monounsaturated fat which, unlike other oils, helps burn calories. It also boosts your metabolism and increases satiety.

Simple Diet Tips to Lose Weight

Many people today are overweight and need to lose weight. Although exercise is important, diet also plays a very important role in weight loss. This article will show you simple changes you can make in your diet to help you shed the pounds.

One easy way to cut calories from your diet is by avoiding high-calorie dressings. Often, people eat salads when they are trying to diet. However, if you drench your salad in salad dressing, you are adding additional, unnecessary calories to your meal. Instead of salad dressing, choose oil and vinegar or opt for lower calories, healthier versions of your favorite dressing. Avoid creamy dressings such as blue cheese or ranch since cheese, cream or mayonnaise based dressings contain more fat and calories, as well as cholesterol. A better option is vinaigrette dressing which has less calories and fat.

If you are trying to lose weight switch to lean cuts of meat. Lean meats not only have a small amount of fat but they are also high in protein. Protein contains less calories per gram than fat, which mean that when you eat lean meat you are eating a food that is relatively low in calories. Furthermore, consuming adequate protein is crucial for maintaining your muscle mass. More muscle mass in your body results in a higher metabolic rate. If you have a high metabolic rate, your body will burn calories faster and you decrease your chances of becoming overweight.

When trying to lose weight, reduce the portion size of your meals. A good tip is to eat your meals on smaller plates. Switching to smaller plates will still give you the illusion of eating a full plate of food and will not make you feel as if you're depriving yourself. By cutting back on your portions, you are instantly cutting back on the amount of calories you are consuming.

Avoid eating out if you are dieting. Many times when people go out to eat they make poor food choices and overeat. If you must eat out, opt for healthy foods. Nowadays many restaurants, including fast food chains, offer healthy options for those watching their figure. Eat a grilled chicken sandwich instead of a fried one.

Instead of getting fries with your meal, get vegetables or a side salad. When eating in a restaurant, watch out for portion sizes since many restaurant portions are twice the recommended amount. Divide your meal in half and take one half home. You can also split your meal with a dining companion. These simple changes will help you reduce the amount of calories you eat and stay on your weight loss path.

Changing your cooking method can greatly help you slim down. Avoid frying your foods since the frying oil adds extra calories to your meals. Also, most fried food is breaded which also increases the calorie count. Instead of frying, try broiling, steaming or baking. All these methods are considerably more healthy than frying and cuts down on the overall calorie content of a meal.

Losing weight can be very hard but if you have the proper knowledge, you can be successful. Implement the changes mentioned in this article, and you will be on your way to a thinner, healthier body.

Best Exercises to Lose Weight at Home

Are you looking for some best exercises to lose weight at home? Then know that you can save money by not going to the gym and still lose weight, when you carefully and seriously devote time to these exercise routines in the comfort of your home. If going to the gym is a herculean task for you, then devoting just 30 minutes a day in your home to do any of these exercises, would result in a very significant change in your body.

These exercises will help your body burn fat just like the person going to the gym and they are:
  1. Stair sprinting or stair running
You may not have machines like the treadmill and bike at home, but that doesn't mean weight loss cannot be achieved over there. Just make use of the stairs in your house. The exercise is optimum for burning fat and can just be as effective, if not, even more effective in burning body fat than running, when done the right way.
It is easy, just run up and down the stairs, 3 to 4 times in a row, then rest for about 30 seconds and walk around at a slow pace. You then have to repeat the process.

  2. Jumping rope or skipping
This is one of the most intense calorie burners. It is estimated to burn even more calories than a fast run would do. You have to understand that it comes with commitment though, to really continue doing it.

Try to skip none-stop for a minute if possible and rest for a minute. Then start again and do it in an alternating cycle for about 30 minutes or 10 to 15 rounds. If you use this method, trust me, you can really burn fat out of your body.

  3. Using a set of adjustable dumbbells
For those of you looking to firm your bodies, this is also a very great exercise method that you can use. It can be used to firm the body in resistance training and can be done to target the entire body through routines like lunges, squats, shoulder presses, chest press, lying on the floor, biceps curls and many others.
In doing it, perform 8 to 12 reps and rest for about 2 minutes. When the circuit has been completed, repeat one more time.

  4. Resistance bands

Great Food Choices for Losing Weight

If you're searching for that weight loss regimen that is going to do the trick, then you're finding out that you must make lifestyle changes and focus on plans that you can keep over the long-term. You also must be able to learn over time what foods are good for your plan. Find out more about doing this by continuing to read and check out these great food choices for losing weight.

The greener the vegetables, the better they are for you. The reason for this is people need these for all the vitamins and fiber, but they do not eat them. In order to get these things and replace other negative foods that might find their way to your plate, try eating more leafy green vegetables.

You need dairy in your diet, but you don't have to overdo it or eat the products that are high in fat. Eat low-fat or fat-free products that are not as hard on your stomach and your digestion system.

Try cutting out as much sugar as you can from your diet. While you are not going to want to eliminate sugar completely from your diet, you do want to make sure that you are watching your intake. For instance, get those sodas out of your diet. You would be surprised at how much sugar you consume with an unhealthy diet.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and substituting this for those unhealthy beverages. This helps you in so many ways, especially staying hydrated. You must replace the water you lose daily when exercising and performing other activities. Certain drinks will actually dehydrate you if you don't watch out to consume the right beverages.

Sauces and dips are usually high in fat, and you have to watch what you're eating. However, there are plenty of healthy alternatives that you take advantage of if you're looking at all of your options. For instance, hummus dips and salsas are a great option for you.

Many people wouldn't know how to pick out whole grain bread if they tried. They look at whole wheat options and things that are advertised to get you to buy them, but are not what is really good for you. Instead, focus on making sure that you eat whole grains that will benefit your diet.

As mentioned, sauces are also very fattening mostly. Try lower fat options, and make sure you take advantage of certain condiments like mustard and malt vinegar.

Take advantage of eating as many fruits as you like. Try new things, and this includes your vegetables as well. Fruits are a great way to feel like you're snacking with natural sugars and not having to worry about all those unhealthy sugars.

Now you know some great foods to get you started mixing your diet up for your best interest. Remember that you can only eat so much, so remembering the right foods also eliminates the bad ones. Keep in mind what you've read as you work towards your weight loss goals.

The New Fat-Burning Equation: Cut Your Workout Time in Half and Get Twice the Fat Loss Results

What if everything you've been told about losing weight and changing your body is actually causing you to gain weight in the long run? The new fat loss research is very clear. To lose weight and create lasting body transformation, you must change the two most important things that affect how your body burns fat.

So here are a few of the most important concepts to keep in mind as you go about working on your summer body. Yes, you read correctly. Summer will be here sooner than you think.

  Intensity, intensity, intensity
That's right. The primary reason why most people who lose weight end up gaining the weight back is because they didn't create enough changes at the cellular level to the various systems that affect fat burning. I call this "physiological adaptations."

To improve the efficiency of your body's fat-burning systems you have to change the efficiency of the oxygen delivery system, oxygen extraction from the blood by your cells, hormone signaling, and of course the efficiency of your liver in converting stored body fat to fatty acids and supplying it to your working muscles.

Sounds complicated, doesn't it? Well, it is a very complicated process. However, the most important thing you can do to affect this entire process is to train at a very high intensity. That means high intensity cardio, as well as intense weight training.

Now I know that some people are going to have a problem digesting this because they're still stuck in the old way of thinking. Remember the "fat burning zone" that you still see on most treadmills and cardio machines? Forget about it. Remember the old theory of "long, slow distance" for weight loss? Forget about it. Throw away all these old ideas of how to burn fat or workout to lose weight. The only word you need to remember is "intensity." The harder you train, the more "physiological adaptations" you create. This is what improves the efficiency of your fat-burning systems.

So let's take weight loss as an example. The prevalent theory of weight loss is "calories in vs. calories out." You hear it all the time. Cut back on the amount of calories you take in to create a calorie deficit and eventually you will lose weight. While this strategy can lead to weight loss, most people will end up gaining their weight back the minute they eat more calories than they burn. This puts you on the never-ending cycle of weight loss - weight gain, which eventually makes it harder to lose weight.

Following the new approach, however, which is supported by a wealth of published research, some of which I cited in my book, you can forget about weight loss all together. According to a number of these studies, the two things that most significantly affect the body's fat burning are your body composition and fitness level.

  Fat loss vs. weight loss
When most people diet to lose weight, they will lose a lot of water, some muscle tissue and a little fat. On the other hand, when you train to change your body composition and fitness level by doing intense weight training and high intensity cardio, you will end up improving the efficiency of your fat burning systems. By this I mean the efficiency of the body's oxygen delivery system, oxygen extraction from the blood by your cells, hormone signaling, and of course the efficiency of your liver in converting stored body fat to fatty acids and supplying it to your working muscles.

These are the kind of internal changes that will help you to get and stay lean without worrying about counting calories because your body will be burning more calories at rest, as well as during and after your workouts.
Isn't that a better place to be than to constantly worry about counting calories or points everyday?
So here's the new fat burning equation. This applies whether you're trying to lose weight or not. Heavy weights plus intense cardio will change your body composition and fitness level, which in turn will create significant "physiological adaptations" at the cellular level. This will create a more efficient fat-burning environment, which will ultimately lead to body transformation.

When you diet to lose weight, you're just temporarily changing your body weight, not it's composition (fat to muscle ratio). When you create significant changes to your internal systems, however, this puts you in a different league. And the research is very clear that trained athletes burn fat more efficiently and burn more of it than the untrained.

Besides looking lean, another advantage of training hard is that you can get better results in half the time. Isn't that worth something?

Ways of Overcoming Serious Health Problems

Excess fats/weight is responsible for many health problems such as increased cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack. Therefore, proper attention needs to be adhered to in ensuring weight control by engaging preventive measures to avoid serious health problems.

  Getting rapid results
The right weight loss pills can help you reduce weight quickly. Many people choose weight loss supplements that help lose weight effortlessly, allowing a person to get back in shape in a short time. Many of the leading pills are appetite suppressants that help to boost confidence by ensuring an attractive, slimmer figure.
The right pills offer an easy and effective mode for ensuring losing weight. In case the traditional methods such as dieting, weight loss program and low carbohydrates diet do not offer the desired results, you can consider using these pills upon proper consultation with the doctor or healthcare provider.

  Benefits of diet pills
  · Convenience: The pills offer an attractive alternative to gyms, performing aerobic rhythms and cycles. Although exercises are recommended as part of a lifestyle change in ensuring weight is properly managed, they demand a significant amount of time from the daily schedule. Furthermore, some of the workout regimens have a capacity of resulting in aching muscles and pains. This fast and hectic lifestyle often gives people little time for performing regular workout.

· Painless loss: Many of the pills are made available without prescription. Many of them are safe, offering fewer side effects compared with other prescription pills. These pills are safe because they are manufactured from 100 percent natural herbal extracts. The pills work by suppressing appetite and helping the body to burn out excess fat.

  · Cheaper weight loss options: This method is far more cheaper than other methods like many exercising machines (i.e. the treadmill and electronic muscle stimulants) and surgeries. You can buy the pills at affordable prices. The right diet pills feature fewer side effects compared with other options.

  · Easy to use: Many of these pills come with detailed directions, which are easy to use. The pills can be used after consulting with the doctor. In combination with a little workout and balanced diet, the pills can produce results in a short time.

  · No planning required: No rigorous planning is required to use the pills. Only proper precautions and direction needs to be adhered to avoid side effects in the future. Some of the common side effects include sleeplessness and dry mouth.

4 Mistakes To Avoid When Buying Weight Loss Pills

With the wide range of weight loss pills available in the market, it can be quite difficult to identify the best ones. Many people buy diet pills that come highly recommended, only to be disappointed when they fail to achieve their weight loss goals. This disappointment usually comes about due to mistakes when buying the supplements. There are some things to look out for so that you can avoid the common mistakes.

  Falling for sensational adverts
Manufacturers usually resort to massive marketing to sell their products. One of the most popular advertising techniques is using celebrities to endorse their products. They will also use statistics that are not necessarily true to get the attention of consumers. Many people buy the pills in the hope that they will look like the star or model on the advert. It is important to remember that companies will use the marketing techniques that will get as much attention as possible - even though it may not be true.

  Falling for hyped ingredients
It is a good idea to look out for pills that try to use well-known ingredients or products as a marketing gimmick. These are products that claim to be effective simple because they use ingredients that have well-known benefits. Some of these supplements are simply ineffective and use the hyped ingredients to get attention. The well-known health ingredients are safe but there is very little evidence that they help in weight loss, especially in the amounts found in the pills.

Do not fall for just any free trial
Before you decide to take part in free trials, you should make sure that the product is safe. Many people are willing to get the products because they are not spending any money. Blindly trusting free samples can have a negative effect on your health. Wait until a product has been declared completely safe before you buy. Make sure that the authenticity of the product you buy is backed by scientific evidence.

Do not ignore list of ingredients
When you buy weight loss pills, you should remember that the devil is in the details. Go through the full list of ingredients and make sure you understand what they are. Look for products that have patented ingredients. Some products, especially those with "hyped ingredients", only focus on these ingredients but fail to list the other ingredients that actually make up the larger percentage.

It is very important to look for reputable sites when shopping online for the supplements. Consider the price factor when making the choice and be wary of products that are too cheap.

Losing Weight the Healthy and Right Way

When losing weight, everybody loves to make it fast and instant. We only want a week to lose 20 pounds or we only want three days to lose 10 pounds, and although this can be tempting as the results of weight loss will be seen in just a couple of days, this is an unhealthy way to lose weight. In losing weight, the most important thing is not really losing the pounds, but gaining muscle along the way because it will enable you to lose body fat while maintaining strong muscles and a leaner body. Being skinny is not the same as being healthy, so you have to choose wisely.

In order to lose weight healthy, you have to remember not to lose weight drastically, even if you are twice your ideal weight. A drastic decrease in your weight might cause your greater health problems than you already have. For a good estimate, losing a kilo or 2.2 pounds a week is a good start. From then, you may increase it depending on your health condition and your body strength. Remember, you do not have to punish yourself by instantly losing body fat but you can ease your way into a lifestyle change that will eventually get you there. A weight that you gained over a year will not magically vanish through an overnight process.

Now that you have set a realistic goal, losing weight in a healthy way revolves around three core areas: exercise, sleep, and healthy diet. The only way to get in shape is to get off the couch and start moving around. It is often a misconception that in order to lose weight, you have to get a gym membership first. At home, you can still lose weight by doing strength training or even running around the block for 30 minutes, thrice a week. There are also a lot of home tutorial videos available online that can help you choose routines and weight loss programs. However, do not overdo yourself. Find a comfortable pace and frequency in your routine so you will not get discouraged easily.

A sweaty workout will not only melt away calories but it will also give you a good night's sleep. And sleep is one of the basic factors that we often forget in losing weight. A good 8-hour sleep will energize your body and put you in recovery after a good workout. It is during sleep that our body is replenished, keeping both our physical and mental health in an optimum level. Plus, having a good sleep will prevent you from fatigue and stress that may cause weight gain. And lastly, you should have a healthy diet - and never crash diets. In the long run, you will lose more weight by eating five to six small interval meals a day, rather than gulping on three large meals a day. It will increase your metabolism and will prevent you from overeating over your next meal.

The trick lies in moderation. You do not have to exclude food groups in your meal because calories are needed by the body to keep it functioning well. Keep basic when eating meals - vegetables, fruits, and fiber - and veer away from processed foods, oily foods, and saturated fats. Have some time to look into nutrition labels, but you do not have to necessarily count the calories everyday. And always keep yourself hydrated. Fuel your body with lots of water in order to flush out toxins.

Is It Hard to Lose Weight When You Are Over 50?

When I started my quest to gain my health back... and decided to make some lifestyle changes... I never really thought about how old I was. I was 56 at the time. But many times your age could be a big stumbling block to any goal you are trying to accomplish.

When setting out to accomplish any goal, many of us ponder, "Is this something I can Do? We set out to think about what the "roadblocks" might be. The reasons why we may not be able to do this. Certainly a common excuse is "I'm too old". Wow, that one covers a multitude of areas! Then there are a few others that make it into the mix... This will be hard, I'm not smart enough, I can't afford it, I don't know what to do, and the list goes on and on.

When we start to realize that all of these things are just thought or beliefs... and have absolutely no basis in reality... we can now decide to take back our power. The magic that happens when you take your power back is really miraculous! You see a belief is just a thought that we took on as a truth and it sticks around until we decide to choose another belief.
Our sub-conscious mind holds many thoughts, beliefs, and habits. Now this is usually a good thing. This way we don't have to concentrate every time we need to do a simple task. We don't need to really "think" about it. Take for example driving to work. We pretty much just drive and the route we take is etched in our memory, so no need to think very hard about which way to go. But, on the other hand, if we are in a new place where we have never been before, we need to go slower, watch for an upcoming turn, and sometimes turn around when we missed that turn, follow a map, and are really on high alert as to what we have to do next.

If we had to do that every time we did simple tasks, life would be very overwhelming and we would not be able to accomplish much. But on the other hand, there are also some habits down there, that we do every day that may not be serving us any longer. We just keep doing things over and over, without really thinking about it. This is where the problems come in. So when we want to make a change, our sub-conscious mind fights us...

When getting my health back, I needed to change many things that I had been doing by habit. Do you eat a sugary snack every evening after dinner while watching TV? When I realized this was what I was doing, I had to change my pattern. At first I got a little resistance and felt uncomfortable, or the feeling I was missing something... but I just asked myself, Do I really want this? or has it just become a habit? It is much easier to let a habit go that is no longer serving you, if you think before you act.

I created a new habit that was suited for what I wanted to accomplish! I now would choose some fruit or nuts as a little evening snack, and that made a BIG difference! Then I was able to do that with other habits... now my new habits have taken hold.

This has really been life changing and you can do this too! NO! It is not hard to lose weight after 50.
With what I learned about how our bodies work and how and why our bodies store fat, it all became Easy! I have now been able to get my body and mind working with me, instead of against me... I have not starved, I eat delicious healthy food, I have become more active than I even was in my 30's!

  To your good health!

More Muscle Less Fat Customizing Your Diet

Do the words diet and dieting have the same meaning or are they two completely different words? Most believe that it means something that you go on and once you have met your goal or goals then you can stop. Wrong that mindset simply does not work. The words diet and dieting have been terribly misconstrued over time in general. Diet, meaning the foods and any supplementation that you intake is considered your diet.

While dieting only denotes a set regimen or program you follow to attain a set goal usually weight loss.
As you know there are many "diets" that have been created over the years. I will list a few you've probably heard of. Have you heard of Sugar Busters, Weight Watchers, the Atkins Diet, the South Beach Diet and of course the list goes on.

I'll go over each of these briefly. Sugar Busters basic focus is to eliminate foods high in sugar content while also eliminating foods that may raise blood sugar levels. But just eliminating sugar alone from your diet will not reduce fat or increase weight loss. Now Weight Watchers is a system designed to count calories and follow portion control to reach your desired goal. The Atkins Diet is a plan that eliminates carbohydrates during the early phase of regimen and is also a low nutrient diet. Finally there is the South Beach Diet. It does offer balanced eating, lean proteins, good fats, and good carbohydrates. It also focuses on how heavily the role of insulin and blood sugar spikes create hunger.

These all probably work to some degree but what they lack is a full balanced system.
The word "diet" should only mean foods and supplement that one intakes. Also the customization of your food intake should be considered, your body type and medical history should all weigh in to that equation. Of course your goals must be considered. Are you trying to lose fat, lose weight, gain muscle, create flexibility or just achieve overall better health and fitness. Of course this should be your overall goal!
The word diet in my mind should denote foods and supplements with exercise that creates a source for your body to burn fat naturally. They must also continue to do this. Balance is always the key to longevity and fruitfulness. Your metabolism is key to all of the above mentioned. The more it works for you the less you have to. Not to say that you have to do nothing at all for this to work 100%. Another key component is muscle. Muscle burns fat. One pound of muscle burns 50 calories. These are two critical components to attaining any long term goals continually. Lets say that if you engage in a low impact type of activity such as aerobics, jogging, pilates or yoga won't help you lose weight what it will do is help you lose muscle which in turn with no muscle to burn the fat your right back to the beginning, trying to lose weight.

The body needs a fuel source that being carbohydrates (glycogen) and fat or fat stores. It then looks for protein when looking for fuel sources. It begins to deplete muscle tissue which is not what we want to do because what it does is create an opportunity to gain fat or gain weight. That's why one of the components of the plan includes a program that will help you add muscle you need to burn fat. The last component is protein. This is ultimately what muscle needs to create muscle. They ignite or jump start the digestive process of everything we put in our mouths.

Obviously this process and components necessary may seem complicated but in actuality is not.
"Do you use this four letter word "? and "what is your favorite"? I hope this one is your favorite new one Diet. It has been terribly misconstrued over the years and needs to be corrected. There should be no such thing as going on a diet. Only diet in the sense that it is a complex list of foods and supplementation of such that one intakes along with a complete regimen of a multitude of exercises which we'll go into detail in the follow-up.

Losing Weight in a Wheelchair

In 2008 my wife suffered a burst brain aneurysm that left her paralyzed on the right side of her body. It took us a while transitioning our world into a wheelchair lifestyle and learning what we could and could not do.

For me, as her primary caregiver, I had to learn to bath her, groom her, change diapers, avoid bed sores, move her from her bed to the wheelchair to the car, and to cook. I also had to learn how to keep the house clean, and do laundry. In the beginning it was hard to imagine just how this one tragic event would change our lives forever.

With the love of my life limited to a wheelchair, my goal has been to find ways for her to enjoy living. At first, it seemed like eating was about the only thing she could enjoy. As the one bringing her food each day, I found myself trying to make her happy by providing her with the food she liked to eat. Unfortunately, it wasn't the healthiest diet and after a couple of years she gained over 100 pounds. She didn't seem to mind the weight gain, since she enjoyed the ice cream (her favorite), candy, potato chips and other junk food I provided. One day, however, she saw herself in the mirror, fully unclothed, and was astounded. She started talking about going on a diet. We also saw a news report one day about a woman who was also confined to a wheelchair and ended up gaining over 700 pounds. Even though this scared by wife, it was not enough to stop her from graving the foods she enjoyed eating.

Then one day I got a hernia trying to move her around and we both realized we have to find a way to reduce her weight. I started looking for diets that might work for a disabled person who is unable to exercise, but found nothing. I spoke to a nutritionist, but all she said was limit my wife to less than 1500 calories per day. We actually did better than that. We cut her daily calorie intake to less than 1200, but still she did not lose weight.
Prior to my wife's stroke, several years ago, we both tried the low-carb diet with great success. Back then, I was able to lose 40 lbs., and my wife lost 30 lbs. Now back then we were able to add exercise to our diet. Since we did have good luck with the low-carb diet in the past, we decided to try it again, even though my wife was unable to exercise. With the Atkins Diet, phase one of the four-phase program is to eat 20 or less carbs per day. Once you start getting close to your ideal weight, you can begin to add more carbs through fruits and vegetables.

In order to meet our 20-carb a day goal, I designed a diet that we would eat each day. For breakfast, we would have two eggs, a half a strawberry, a slice of turkey bacon, one sausage link, and a small slice of mozzarella cheese. Eventually my wife cut back to one egg. For lunch, we would have a small salad consisting of Romaine lettuce, five black olives, cheese chunks, chicken chunks, a small slice of celery, a slice of dill pickle, a little cabbage and sugar-free dressing. For evening snack, we would have a few pieces of sugar-free candy, a half a strawberry, a half ounce of beef jerky, a small bowl of Jello, a few almonds and a half Atkins sugar-free snack bar. That's it, our daily diet.

My wife began her diet in July and as of today she has lost sixty-six pounds. I began in January and have lost twenty-two pounds. No more ice cream, no more potato chips, no more bread, noodles, fast food or a million other things we used to love to eat. There are a number of other low-carb items we eat from time to time, such as broccoli, spinach, fish, chicken, steak and other meats. Mostly, however, we have stuck to the daily diet I described. My wife has decided to get down to her pre-stroke weight of 150 lbs. Since her peak weight was 256 lbs., that would mean a total loss of over 100 lbs.

The weight loss she has already experienced has made caring for her much easier, and she feels better as well. My own weight loss has helped me feel better and given me more stamina to meet the challenges of my work day. Once we reach our target weight, the goal will be to maintain that weight and not fall back into the same old habits. I do hope to be able to have a small bowl of spaghetti someday, or a slice of pizza. I am hoping when that day comes, I learn what the term "moderation" means.

I can't say our low-carb diet will work for everyone, but it is working for us. Even though I do get a great deal of exercise each day, my wife does not, and she is losing weight consistently every week. She had some blood work done not long ago and her cholesterol numbers and blood sugar numbers were good. Aside from her paralysis, she is in good health and feeling great. So if you are facing similar challenges, especially being unable to get much exercise each day, you might try a low-carb diet. But as they say in the commercials, you might want to discuss it with your doctor before you do.

Easy Weight Loss For Teens - Simplified

Here are a few tricks that help provide easy weight loss for teens. First, whether you want to or not, it is important to get your parents involved. Make your own grocery list, but don't go to the store.

Grocery store displays are full of high calorie foods (most of them junk) that are marketed directly at teenagers. Start supporting your health, instead of supporting junk food manufacturers.

We all love fast food joints, but it can be hard to stick with a healthy eating plan, when you see your friends munching on French fries. You don't have to stop going to the restaurants, but look at their healthier choices. Pick grilled chicken sandwiches instead of the burgers. Try fruit slices or salads as a side dish.

It can be frustrating to watch your friends eat whatever they want and never gain an ounce. It might make you feel a little better to know that some people are genetically inclined to gain fat faster. If your parents are overweight, you are more likely to be overweight, too. But, that does't mean there is no hope.

Easy weight loss for teens is possible, regardless of how your genes were programmed. Your goal should be to look and feel your "personal" best. If your dream is to look like a fashion model in a magazine, let me share a secret with you. Those models are some of the least healthy people on the planet.

Look at some of the muscle and fitness magazines, if you want to see what healthy people actually look like. You might not want to look like a body builder and that's fine. But, whether you are a boy or a girl, easy weight loss for teens or anyone else must include some strength building or muscle building exercises.

I recently read a long list of 20 dieting tips for teenagers. The list was long, but there was no a single mention of exercise or how muscles affect your metabolism.

You might think that exercise is the only way to burn calories, but actually, your body burns calories all of the time, even while you sleep. But, your body will burn more calories while you are resting, if you build some muscle.

Don't worry. You don't need to spend a lot of time pumping iron and you don't have to do countless reps. This really is easy weight loss for teens.

Some of the best strength and muscle building exercises are those that require you to lift your body weight. Push-ups and pull-ups are examples. If the thought of doing five a day makes you feel exhausted, start out slow.

If you can't do a single pull-up, get some resistance bands and start getting stronger. You can use them while you are watching your favorite TV programs.

Easy weight loss for teens might not be fast. Set some realistic goals. Aim for 10 pounds and when you've lost that, aim for another ten. It will help you stay motivated, when you are constantly achieving small goals.

Do We Need to Use Weight Loss Pills?

You have probably heard about weight loss pills or diet pills before. If you have never used them and would like to know how efficient they are, take a few minutes to read the following article.

Diet pills are actually considered as supplements and are not regulated as closely as other medications. Each product contains different ingredients and their side effects vary a lot. It is very important to research different products so you can find a safe weight reduction pill instead of trying different products until you find one that works for you.

Some of these pills are designed to keep your system from absorbing the nutrients you eat. This means you could feel very weak and suffer from a vitamin deficiency for as long as you take the weight loss supplement. A lot of popular weight loss pills work by forcing all the fat out of your system. You should expect to experience unpleasant side effects such as diarrhea.

Most weight loss pills contain chemicals that will alter your sleep pattern, which means you will probably have to deal with insomnia. Chemicals designed to suppress appetite can also have an effect on your nervous system and cause your blood pressure to rise. Heart attacks, headaches and other issues linked to high blood pressure have been reported in a few cases.

Your body will develop a tolerance to these pills after six months. People usually manage to lose up to twenty pounds with diet pills but you can put this weight on again right away if you do not adopt a healthier lifestyle. You should think of diet pills as something you can use to make your weight loss program more efficient. Relying only on pills to lose weight is not a good solution on the long term.

You should talk to your doctor about weight loss pills. In most cases, you can get the same results by adopting a healthy diet and working out a few times a week. If you do not get good results with your diet and exercise regimen, a diet pill could help you speed up your weight reduction as long as you can handle the side effects. Focus on adopting healthier habits so you can transform your lifestyle on the long term.

Be very careful with dosage when taking weight loss pills. You could get very sick if you take more pills than you need. Read instructions carefully before taking a pill and talk to your doctor if you are not sure how many pills you should take in a day. If you have problems with high blood pressure or with your digestive system, it is best not to take weight loss pills.

You should have a better idea of whether or not diet pills are a good option for you after reading this article. These pills have their pros and cons and the decision is up to you. You should do more research on different pills so you can make an educated decision.

Losing Weight With Acupuncture

Successful long term weight loss is incredibly difficult for most people to achieve. Many people have tried numerous fad diets that may cause some weight loss and then end up gaining back the weight they lost plus some additional pounds. This is why more and more people are turning to acupuncture to try to handle their weight problem once and for all. Acupuncture is a practice that is more than 5,000 years old, significantly older than Western medicinal therapies and practices.

One of the ways in which acupuncture works is by stimulating the body to release endorphins, the body's own "feel-good" pain-relieving chemicals. The release in endorphins helps control appetite, especially for over eaters or emotional eaters and reduces certain food cravings.

During the acupuncture session the specialist will first ask a variety of questions and perform an examination. The purpose is to understand the main causes of the person's excess weight. Once the root causes of the problem are identified, the acupuncturist will then insert needles into different areas of the body in order to help improve the body's functioning in a way that will promote weight loss. Certain needle placements are even thought to lower insulin levels or lipid levels in the blood.

One of the benefits of acupuncture for weight loss is that there are no harmful side effects and no chance for addiction unlike other western prescription medications. So it is a perfectly natural means of boosting the patient's weight loss efforts.

It is recommended that treatments be repeated on a rather regular basis in order to maintain the effects. However, acupuncture treatment alone is not likely to be enough to result in long term, permanent weight loss. Diet and exercise are also imperative in which the acupuncturist may provide the patient with certain guideline on what to eat and what to avoid.

If you have been struggling with a stubborn weight problem, are a constant dieter and frustrated with the results, consider giving acupuncture a try to give your weight loss efforts a boost.

Some additional suggestions I would make concerning weight loss and diet:
1. Stay away from any foods with the words "diet", "low fat" on the label. These foods are usually loaded with chemicals your body doesn't recognize.

2. Stay away from Sugar, flours, fried and processed foods. These will only encourage weight gain.
3. Eat plenty of the "good" fats - Our body requires fat for many functions in the body. But only the good fats can do this job effectively. These fats also helps to reduce the bad fats in the body by speeding up your metabolism. Stay away from processed fats and fried foods. Research shows that we indeed need fat to lose weight, for disease prevention and to feel satiated. Fish, Avocados, butter (not margarine), plain Greek yogurt, nuts and seeds are some ideas of "good fats."

4. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fresh organic meats and complex carbohydrates whenever possible.

5. Learn to nourish your body by using fresh ingredients and learning to cook your own meals. Trust me this is much more rewarding and your body will love you for it.

6. Remember that excess carbohydrates converts into sugar in the body. All those pasta dishes, bagels and donuts will be stored as fat if eaten in excess.

7. Eat mindfully- Eating in a rush, when under stress or in front of the tv engorged in a tv program is a bad move and will make you overeat.

8. Beware of MSG- This harmful chemical is hidden in most packaged foods and hidden under inconspicuous names on labels. (autolyzed yeast extract, natural flavors, spices etc). It is a neurotoxin meaning it is toxic and has adverse effects on the brain. One of the things it does is turn off the signal in the brain that tells you your stomach is "full" after eating so you continue to eat and then overeat. (like a bag of chips for instance). There are many other side effects of MSG so be cautious, this is not something you ever want to consume in your diet.

Fast and Easy Weight Loss Solutions

Obesity has become one of the biggest banes of modern times. If it's not unhealthy junk food and sugary drinks tempting you, it's 24-hour programming that has you glued to the TV set and fixed on the couch. Add to that sedentary jobs, video games and general lack of physical activity and you have a recipe for disaster!
But if you're determined to cut excess fat out of your life, let me tell you it's easier than you think. All you need to do is put your mind to it and make a few simple lifestyle changes. To get you started on the path to weight loss, I'll let you in on some slimming secrets that have worked for me:

Lose weight naturally
The first and most important decree of weight loss is to focus on finding healthy and natural weight loss solutions. Popping slimming pills or starting a crash diet in a desperate attempt to lose weight can cause serious health problems. But at times, restricting the consumption of certain food groups becomes necessary to lose body fat. If you find yourself in such a situation, look for diet programs that are wholesome, healthy and provide you adequate nutrition.

Increase water intake
Water intake plays a crucial role in losing weight. Water is believed to quicken the weight loss process as it boosts metabolism and flushes out toxins from the body. So, drinking plenty of water every day is a non-negotiable rule of weight loss. Consume at least 8-10 large glasses of water every day, if not more. Have a water bottle at hand all the time and keep sipping from it every few minutes. You can squeeze a bit of lemon or dip some herbal/green tea bags in lukewarm water for variation.

Eat healthy
It doesn't take rocket science to understand that permanent weight loss is impossible without eating healthy. How does one maintain a healthy, nutritious diet? Here are some simple dos and don'ts:
• Say no to junk, fried and sugar-loaded foods as well as colas.
• Include lots of vegetables, fruit and legumes in your diet.
• Have small, frequent meals and never skip breakfast.
• Avoid late dinners and mid-night snacking.
• As far as possible, prepare your own meals.
• If you socialize regularly, eat before you leave.
• Avoid pre-prepared or packaged meals, bars and shakes.
• Choose whole grains instead of refined; lean meat in place of regular; substitute full-fat dairy with low-fat.
If you are on a structured weight loss program, it will have its own set of eating regulations. Make sure you follow the instructions of the program to the letter if you want to reach your goal.

Exercise regularly
You can try as many weight loss solutions as you want, but nothing will work unless you make regular exercise an integral part of your life. Most weight loss and fitness experts agree 30 minutes of exercise is necessary to not just lose weight, but also to maintain optimal body weight. Thirty minutes of jogging, cycling, yoga, Pilates, aerobics, or whichever form of exercise you find interesting and stimulating can do wonders for your body. Exercise also releases the "feel good" hormone endorphin into the blood stream, making one feel energized and happy. Additionally, make it a habit to take stairs instead of elevators and escalators and walk wherever possible.

Sleep Well
Sleeping is believed to be associated with the production of appetite inducing and repressing hormones. Inadequate sleep elevates the level of appetite stimulating hormone. At the same time, it lowers the level of appetite repressing hormone leading to pangs of hunger in people who don't get enough sleep. Sleeping is also the time when your body rejuvenates and repairs. A good night's sleep prepares your body for the challenges of the next day!

None of the slimming secrets I shared above can be termed "secret" in the strictest sense of the term. These are things we are all well aware of, but choose to overlook for various reasons. It just takes a little bit of grit and determination to make these practices a part of your life. The result, I promise, will show for itself!
Jason is a self-proclaimed fitness freak. He has made the journey from an out of shape 180-pounder to a 155-pound lean machine. The transformation was made possible by the weight loss program he started a few years ago and ever since then, he doesn't spare any opportunity to spread the good word around for these structured weight loss plans.

He lives in New York with his wife of two years. His other interests include traveling and painting. He has painted over 50 beautiful landscapes while visiting foreign countries and he plans on opening an art gallery in New York at the end of the year to display his artwork.

Power Foods: Foods That Spike Your Metabolism

Did you know that some foods affect your metabolism more than others? Your metabolism isn't necessarily something you're stuck with-it's determined by your behaviors. A diet rich in certain nutrient-dense foods can actually increase your metabolism, which gives you an added edge when trying to lose weight.

Understanding Metabolism
Metabolism is the rate at which your body is able to convert foods into energy. It is affected by a variety of factors, such as what you eat, how often you exercise, and how much energy your body needs to perform basic functions. Our hectic lives often push us toward unhealthy behaviors, such as hitting the drive-through for fast food or skipping out on exercise. As our bodies settle into a sedentary life, an increase in fatty foods and a decrease in muscle tone can take a big toll on our metabolism.
Leading an unhealthy lifestyle is a vicious cycle that's difficult to break. While you can't expect to change your habits all at once, you can take small steps toward improving your metabolism, and thus your overall health.

Five Power Foods That Increase Metabolism
So what are these "magical" foods that can kick-start your metabolism? They're not a secret-you can find them all at your local grocery store. Not only are the following foods good for you, but they also trigger fat-loss hormones:

• Red Berries. Berries like raspberries and strawberries contain anthocyanins, which stop fat cells from getting larger while also encouraging them to release hormones that reduce inflammation and lower blood sugar.

• Garlic. Foods in the allium family help to lower cholesterol, boost testosterone (which gives you energy), destroy free radicals, and remove hormone-disrupting chemicals.

• Red Beans. The fiber content of beans makes you feel fuller, store less fat, and lower cholesterol. It also promotes the production of testosterone, helping you build more calorie-burning muscle.

• Broccoli. Cruciferous vegetables have high water and fiber content, increasing your body's fat-burning ability by nearly 30%. Studies have shown that people who include more fiber in their diet are less likely to gain weight.

• Whole Grains. Yes, carbs improve your metabolism too! The fiber in whole grains makes us feel more full, slows down the release of blood sugar, and stabilizes our insulin levels. Be sure to eat grains that are whole-stay away from refined carbs.

Eating Toward a Healthier Lifestyle
There is no single trick to shedding extra pounds, believe me, I know from experience! Meeting your weight loss goals-and keeping them-requires you to work consistently toward a healthier lifestyle. Still, if you alter your diet by taking out some foods and replacing them with others, you'll not only experience all the benefits of eating healthier, you'll be helping your body burn more calories-literally.

Tips for Achieving a Healthy Body

Losing weight and achieving the ideal body shape is likely to be a difficult process for many, especially with the many temptations that are constantly around us. If you are able to take action in relation to creating a healthier diet plan and including daily exercise, the desired results might not be that far away. Here are several effective steps for helping to achieve the healthier lifestyle:

Have a healthy breakfast. If you want to make certain that you start the day in the healthiest way possible, you might want to make certain that you have a breakfast that is nutrient rich and includes the right vitamins and calories for giving the body the necessary boost for the upcoming day. If you are able to include a shake, fruit, or yogurt in the morning this is a healthy way to start the day. It rarely benefits to skip on eating breakfast to lose a couple of pounds, since the body is more likely to go into a state of conserving energy by accumulating the fat from other meals eaten throughout the day.

Avoid high salt consumption. One of the more significant reasons for accumulating a large amount of fat in the midsection area is due to a high intake of salt. If you are able to avoid a diet that is likely to include a range of salty foods this is able to go a long way to avoiding the fat that might start to build up around the abdomen area. It is also highly beneficial to avoid fried foods which contain saturated fatty acids and chips and snacks, which are known as hydrogenated products.

Eat small portion meals. Rather than having one or two large-sized meals per day, it is often advised to eat 5 or 6 small portioned meals since it is much easier for the stomach to digest the smaller portions of food over the course of the day.

Include cardio and walking. In order to include a desired amount of exercise on a daily basis, you really want to take a walk each day since this is highly beneficial and is a very simple way to get some exercise. You might also want to invest some time into cardio exercises that are able to get the heart rate up. Ideally you might want to complete 3 or 4 60-minute sessions of cardio per week. Aerobics, cycling, or swimming is great choices for helping to pump the blood around the body, which is highly desirable for promoting the fat burning process.
